Virgin Australia and tangerine awarded Best Business Class for second year running

Virgin Australia business class, designed by tangerine, has been recognised as the Best Business Class in the World for the second year running by leading airline safety and product rating review agency, AirlineRatings.com.

Airline Ratings commended the design of the suite stating, “one of the outstanding features of this product is the bed. With its triple-layer seat cushion supported by a hammock sub-frame, it virtually guarantees a great sleep”.

Geoffrey Thomas, Airline Ratings Editor-in-Chief, said: “Virgin Australia has taken out this much sought-after award for the second year running with its “The Business” suite which can be argued is more First Class than Business Class”.

Matt Round, tangerine’s Chief Creative Officer, who led the design team, said: “We are thrilled that the business class we’ve designed for Virgin Australia has been recognised as the best of its kind for a second year running. Virgin Australia is a visionary airline. From the CEO down, all of the various stakeholders at Virgin Australia understood and valued the insight that we as designers can bring to a project of this magnitude to create a truly memorable customer experience.”

Virgin Australia also ranked fourth in the worlds top ten best airlines, having achieved a seven-star safety rating and for demonstrating leadership in innovation for passenger comfort.

tangerine’s design for Virgin Australia’s new B777 and A330 aircraft has won a Good Design Award® 2016, a Red Dot Award 2016 and was selected as was one of three finalists in the Cabin Concepts category at the Crystal Cabin Awards 2016.

“Great design creates outstanding customer experiences that transform business. This is what we have done for Virgin Australia and it’s shaking the market,” says Round.
