China Southern’s tangerine-designed cabin revealed on COMAC C919 Prototype at Dubai Airshow

Dubai, UAE – November 18, 2025, Dubai Airshow

The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) has made its Middle East debut at the Dubai Airshow this week, showcasing its ambition to build deeper cooperative relationships with global customers and partners. Among the highlights is a China Southern Airlines C919 narrowbody airliner retrofitted to feature a prototyped interior of tangerine’s narrow body design vision for China Southern.

The C919, displayed in the static lineup alongside COMAC’s C909 business jet variant, boasts a 164-seat, three-class cabin layout. According to China Southern, the interior vision evokes “Oriental grace, Delightful flight”.

This reveal follows China Southern’s announcement earlier this year appointing tangerine to design interiors for its next-generation flagship aircraft, including the A350-900 and A321NX. Tangerine’s creative vision offers a modern interpretation of Chinese elements, seamlessly integrated with the expectations of today’s global travelers. The design emphasises the airline’s core brand values of affinity and refinement, creating a cabin experience that resonates worldwide.

Weiwei He, Director at tangerine, commented: “Our goal is to create interiors that celebrate China Southern’s rich cultural heritage while delivering a premium experience for international passengers. Seeing our design concept realized on the C919 prototype at Dubai Airshow is an exciting milestone.”
