iF Design Award for Snoozebox interior design

tangerine’s interior design for Snoozebox‘s new portable hotel rooms wins at the 2016 iF Design Awards. This win follows a tremendously successful 2015, in which the innovative design collaboration claimed accolades in no less than ten different international design and innovation awards. With over 5,295 entries from 53 countries, the 58 member-strong jury comprised of international experts, convened in Hamburg in January to determine this year’s winners. The hotel room design for Snoozebox was recognised as a winner of the iF DESIGN AWARD 2016 in the Interior Architecture category. Success at the iF Awards for tangerine follows top prizes at the SBID International Awards and Good Design Award®, where the project won category trophies for Best Intelligent Design and Best Architectural Design respectively. The iF design award night took place on 26 February at BMW Welt in Munich.

Snoozebox portable hotel rooms transform externally and internally to suit a range of guests, providing a day room and seven different en-suite sleeping configurations within the same space. Through exploiting specialist laser-cutting and folding processes, beds are hidden within metal frames integrated into the walls. Tessellation of space and form around custom designed hinges, which rotate through a variable arc, stow the beds tightly to optimise living space and allow rooms to compact by 50% for transport. A 100 room hotel can be deployed and set-up to greet guests within 24 hours.
