Tangerine and Sabeti Wain Aerospace Unveil Slouch: A Revolutionary Seating Comfort System for Premium Economy and Economy

London, United Kingdom, 26 March 2025 – Strategic design consultancy Tangerine and leading seat cover manufacturer Sabeti Wain Aerospace have joined forces to introduce Slouch, an innovative comfort system designed to enhance passenger experience in Premium Economy and Economy seating.
Debuting at Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg (April 8–10), Slouch will be showcased on Collins Aerospace’s MiQ seat at Sabeti Wain’s stand (7B45). This patent-pending design represents a breakthrough in ergonomic support and in-flight comfort—visitors will be able to experience it firsthand on a working mock-up.
Slouch is engineered to support the back more fully as a passenger reclines. By moving the lower half of the seatback membrane forward, it reduces the need for passengers to slide themselves into a slouched position for comfort. This unique approach alleviates back strain, enhances relaxation, and allows for asymmetric, individual side adjustments—ideal for those who prefer sleeping on their side.
Designed for both line-fit and retrofit applications, Slouch can be integrated into existing Premium Economy and Economy seats or installed in new aircraft cabins. Airlines can significantly improve passenger comfort without requiring a full seat replacement, making Slouch a cost-effective upgrade that delivers a superior experience.
The prototype, on display at Sabeti Wain Aerospace’s stand (7B45) at AIX, demonstrates how traditional seating can be transformed by cradling the body’s natural resting posture. This innovation underscores tangerine and Sabeti Wain’s commitment to redefining passenger experience while optimising airline operations.
“We are thrilled to showcase Slouch, a game-changing enhancement to Premium Economy and Economy seating,” said Martin Darbyshire, Chairman at Tangerine. “Our working partnership with Sabeti Wain Aerospace has allowed us to bring this comfort innovation to life through their extensive expertise in high-quality seat covers. Together, we’re proving that true comfort isn’t just for premium cabins—it should be accessible to all travellers.”
“We are excited by Slouch’s potential to revolutionise comfort in Premium Economy and Economy seating. Our expertise in manufacturing innovative seat covers of exceptional quality has enabled us to bring this innovation to life, enhancing the passenger experience in a way never seen before,” said Nick Wain, Technical Services Director at Sabeti Wain.
As airlines continue to seek solutions that balance passenger comfort, space efficiency, and operational flexibility, Slouch presents an innovative and practical solution for next-generation in-flight seating.

About Sabeti Wain
Sabeti Wain Aerospace began as a small clothing manufacturer in Iran, a country born of revolution and torn by religious differences. The Sabeti family saw its business, home, capital, and assets all seized by the revolutionary guard before fleeing religious persecution and escaping to neighbouring Pakistan. This was just the first step in a journey that would eventually see them reunited with their son and daughter in the UK. Here they were able to start their business again and, after years of hard work and sheer determination, build it into the success it is today. Now, Sabeti Wain is not only the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of aircraft seat covers, with production facilities in the UK, Dubai, and America, but it also represents the highest quality benchmark—effectively the standard that other manufacturers seek to emulate and by which they are judged. www.sabetiwainaerospace.com
