Slouch seat comfort system returns to Aircraft Interiors Expo with version 2.0

tangerine and Sabeti Wain reveal Slouch 2.0, the latest evolution of its ergonomic seating comfort system for Economy and Premium Economy cabins, at Aircraft Interiors Expo 2026, marking one year since the concept’s industry debut.

First introduced at AIX 2025 through a collaboration between strategic design consultancy tangerine and seat dress cover specialist Sabeti Wain Aerospace, Slouch was developed to address one of the most persistent challenges in aircraft seating: supporting the body’s natural resting posture without increasing seat pitch or footprint.

Building on that original concept, Slouch 2.0 focuses on improved passenger interaction and refined visual integration, while retaining the core ergonomic benefits that defined the original system.

Slouch works by pulling forward a 3D sculpted section of the seatback membrane via an adjustment mechanism positioned on the front of the seat cushion, on either side of the passenger. This provides additional support in the lower back area, reducing the need for passengers to slide forward and slouch in order to find a comfortable position. By alleviating lower back strain, the system promotes a more supportive and relaxed posture, particularly important on longer flights.

What’s new for Slouch 2.0

The second generation system introduces:

  • Smoother, more intuitive passenger control of the mechanism, designed to feel natural and self explanatory in use
  • An updated dress cover design, developed with Sabeti Wain Aerospace to improve aesthetic integration with contemporary seat programmes
  • A fully installed, functional on stand setup, allowing visitors to experience Slouch first hand during the show

As with the original version, Slouch 2.0 is designed as a flexible solution suitable for both line‑fit and retrofit applications. This allows airlines and seat manufacturers to enhance passenger comfort without the significant cost and disruption of full seat replacement.

The collaboration with Sabeti Wain Aerospace continues to demonstrate how innovations in comfort can be delivered through intelligent use of design and dress cover engineering. Supporting airlines’ goals around weight, durability, and maintainability while improving passenger wellbeing.

Slouch 2.0 will be exhibited at Aircraft Interiors Expo 2026 on Sabeti Wain Aerospace’s stand, 7B45, with live demonstrations available throughout the show.
