Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade awarded to tangerine

tangerine is thrilled to announce that after three consecutive years of exponential growth in export business, and a 30-year history of working with international clients, we have been awarded the Queens Award for Enterprise in International Trade.

The Queens Award is considered to be the highest accolade to be bestowed on a UK business. Steeped in history and yet forward-thinking, the Queens Award for Enterprise encourages social mobility, corporate responsibility along with great entrepreneurship. It’s a great honour to have received this award and we’re elated!

We are particularly proud to be recognised with a Queens Award in the same year that we celebrate our 30 years anniversary.

From the get-go we recognised how the dramatic socio-economic changes sweeping the planet might present opportunities to look beyond the UK market. From designing concept computers for Apple in 1990 to creating the World’s first fully lie-flat business class bed for British Airways, we have built a successful business that helps global companies to create new products, services and customer experiences that drive commercial performance.

Our long-term association with South Korean giant, LG, which started in the late 1980s, led us into the Far East, working first in South Korea, Taiwan and Japan and now in China. This global approach has enabled us to work with international companies such as Cathay Pacific, Johnson & Johnson, Gulf Air, Samsung, Toyota, and Huawei across a range of diverse sectors such as transportation, retail, hospitality and consumer product.

Graham Stuart MP, UK Government Minister for Investment at the Department for International Trade congratulates us:

I am delighted that tangerine has received the Queen’s Award for International Trade. Over the last 30 years the company has continually looked beyond the UK market to further their brand and seek global success.  Recent research from the UK’s Design Council, The Design Economy 2018, has shown that the total value of exports which relied on the design industry was £48.4 billion in 2015. It is companies like tangerine who make this achievement possible, by marrying the UK’s world class talent in design with hard work.”

tangerine founder and CEO, Martin Darbyshire says:

“tangerine is a major exporter of design, with over 80% of our business consistently coming from outside Europe over the last 30 years. We have experienced strong growth over the last three years internationally and believe we have much to offer other businesses around the world.”
