Virgin Australia’s new business class, designed by tangerine, has been recognised as the Best Business Class in the World for 2017 by leading airline safety and product rating review agency, Airline Ratings.
Airline Ratings commended Virgin Australia’s flagship Business Class experience ‘The Business’, as “more First Class than Business Class”, celebrating the designs plush triple layered seat cushions, the feeling of spaciousness in the suite and the ample storage room for gadgets and other items while dining.
Geoffrey Thomas, Airline Ratings Editor-in-Chief, said: “Virgin Australia’s new Business Class suite is outstanding and far more first than business. With it, the airline now has a product that matches its flight attendants in-flight service.”
‘The Business’ is available on board the airline’s Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A330-200 fleet, with the long-haul B777 also featuring a new premium business class bar designed by tangerine.
Matt Round, tangerine’s Chief Creative Officer, who led the design team, said: “We are thrilled that the business class we’ve designed for Virgin Australia has been recognised as the best of its kind. Virgin Australia is a visionary airline. From the CEO down, all of the various stakeholders at Virgin Australia understood and valued the insight that we as designers can bring to a project of this magnitude to create a truly memorable customer experience.”
John Thomas, Group Executive Virgin Australia Airlines, said: “We are delighted to have our new Business Class experience recognised as second to none. Each touch point was considered in the design of the Business Class suit and our Cabin Crew bring ‘The Business’ to life for guests travelling on our Airbus A330 and Boeing 777 aircraft.”
tangerine’s design for Virgin Australia’s new B777 and A330 aircraft has already won a Good Design Award® 2016, a Red Dot Award 2016 and was selected as was one of three finalists in the Cabin Concepts category at the Crystal Cabin Awards 2016.
“Great design creates outstanding customer experiences that transform business. This is what we have done for Virgin Australia and it’s shaking the market,” says Round.
