“Why Create Forgettable Journeys?” Railway Interiors

In November, global design agencies tangerine and Saffron teamed up to present a talk and creative workshops at this year at Railway Interiors Expo 2015, the international showcase of railcar interior technologies, materials and design services, in Prague, Czech Republic.

On the first day of the conference tangerine Creative Director, Matt Round took to the stage with Saffron’s Brand Director, Ben Knapp at the conference. “Why Create Forgettable Journeys?” demonstrated how brand and design can deliver significant differences that reduce passenger pain points, whilst at the same time improving rail operator’s bottom line.

For the first time at the Rail Interiors Expo, there was the opportunity for delegates to attend workshops hosted by tangerine and Saffron. Entitled: ‘De-mystifying Design and Brand’ and ‘More Bang for your Buck!’, the hour and a half sessions were lead by leading designers and brand strategists and inspired delegates with the opportunities that great design and creativity can bring to rail services.

“We’ve had all sorts of delegates – from train operators, rolling stock manufacturers, suppliers, as well as other industrial design houses – coming along and talking and learning about how design can influence and improve rail experiences for customers,” said Joy Grover, marketing manager at tangerine.

Strategic design consultancy tangerine delivers ground breaking innovation and design to the transport industry. Most notably in rail for the UK’s Heathrow Express refurbishment, tangerine were responsible for creating the vision for the new train, particularly the First Class experience which now receives passenger acclaim and has significantly increased revenue return for the operator.
